Snuggle up by the log fire in the bar or find a comfortable table amongst the cosy atmosphere of the on-site Mt Lyford Lodge restaurant, both are for the exclusive use of our in house guests. As a private Lodge we prefer to focus on small numbers to offer the best possible service and experience, as well as maintaining a relaxing atmosphere. Being a boutique venue allows our new chef more time and freedom to create special dishes. During evening dining service, we encourage our guests to dine all together on our grand table. It’s a wonderful way to start conversations and meet new friends (Subject to Covid restrictions), or if you prefer a some more privacy; there are several dining spots around the Lodge.
At the bar, we have South Island’s pride and joy, Monteith’s available on tap and a good selection of bottled beers. Our new beer flights offer a small selection of the tap beers and some tasty nuts to match. We have a great range of local North Canterbury wines, including Waipara Springs and boutique producer Mischief With Wine, plus other New Zealand varieties, to suit most tastes and desires. Spring 2021 will also see a specially selected range of new house cocktails being offered to our guests. Barista made coffees and other hot drinks are also available during opening hours.
Upstairs guests enjoy a stunning sun balcony with views of Mount Lyford, a perfect spot for a drink and admiring the vista, also the newly refurbished Mountain View room is a great place to relax with something refreshing and a good book. Our lovely Alpine Garden is also a great place to dine during the warmer months.
Spring 2021 will also see themed dining events being introduced to the Lodge, focusing on the best of what’s on our doorstep, including seasonal vegetables from our own garden. We’ve been fortunate to work with the kind people from Mt Lyford Honey and look forward to incorporating their liquid gold into our dishes.
